BMW X5 35D xDrive

Only a few luxury crossover SUVs can match the performance, tech features and fuel efficiency of the diesel-powered BMW X5 35D xDrive.

The xDrive 35d is the second most affordable trim in the X5 SUV family but is almost 6 grand higher than the cheaper xDrive 35i. It has however been found to be the most economical, which is understandable being diesel powered. Its combined mileage of 22 mpg is at least 2 mpgs higher than those of the xDrive 35i, 35i Premium, and the 35i Sport Activity.

This diesel-powered crossover SUV can actually generate 265 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque; sufficient enough to speed up to 60 mph from a standstill in just 6.9 seconds.

This is a BMW, so it should be natural for us to expect a fairly good amount of tech features. Let’s see now.

Its entertainment system is highlighted by an iPod/iPhone USB integrated system, a satellite radio (SIRIUS), an optional rear entertainment system that comes with a vibration resistant display, and an HD radio with access to over 2,000 radio stations with HD radio capabilities.

If entertainment features are not the kind of tech you’re looking for, then here’s some more tech from this crossover SUV: Adaptive Brake Lights that emit larger and brighter lights as you press harder on the brakes; Run Flat Tires that can run flat over a distance of about 150 miles; and Dynamic Stability Control to aid the driver on the worst road conditions.

The BMW X5 35D xDrive price tag makes it the most expensive crossover SUV compared to other brands with similar specs. In fact, it’s at least 5 grand more than most of them. So despite its impressive scores in performance, handling and features, that price might make buyers think twice before parting with 51 grand.
